    Computer Assisted Orthopedic Surgery

    Widely used in orthopedic practice in Great Britain and Europe, Computer Assisted Orthopedic Surgery is beginning to be widely used in the USA.  There is one Orthopedic Surgeon in Cinncinatti, Dr. Michael Swank, who does a lot in his practice.  There are various other surgeons, like  Andrew Pearle of Hospital of Special Surgery in New York, who are doing much in the way of computer assissted surgery. , and well as robot assisted surgery.  See the following video,  in which Dr. Peale explains the principles of computer assisted Orthopedic Surgery:

    It is noteworthy to see that Dr. Peale believes that computer assisted surgery is leading to a “Golden Age of Orthopedic Surgery” 

    Roboto Resurfacing in Total Arthroplasty (Makoplasty)

    Partial Total Hip and Knee Surgery by means of Robot and Computer aid is currently being explored across the USA.  It is called “Makoplasty”, which combines a robotic arm, and computer guidance bone shaving.  Andrew Pearl MD of the Hospital for Special Surgery of New York is a big proponent of the possibilities of this new orthopedic technology.
