There is search for the killer medical device, or device to be able to detect, non-invasively, the serum blood glucose levels in diabetes, including a “Tatoo”, and various other non-invasive means, but that day has not arrived. IBGStar is a blood glucose meter plug-in for the iPhone There is a an iBGStar Diabetes Manager App that tracks blood glucose, carbohydrate intake, and insulin dose.
The benefit of this peripheral is to manage your regimen of care of the diabetes, by posting alerts, keeping log, etc.
Finger sticks with the lancet are still required. There are other devices on the horizon of the digital revolution that will avoid being stuck to check glucose.
Glucophone is a combination cellphone/glucometer. The glucometer is actually incorporated INTO the phone, and the test strips are inserted in the side. integrated cell phone-glucometer system introduced in 2006 that used custom software on certain LG mobile phones along with a Glucopack fitted onto the device’s back. Users place the test strip in a small slot on the side of the GlucoPak, with the results uploaded seconds later to the HealthPia website, and securely stored there. The results can be automatically sent to your physician, guardian, or family member in real-time. After its initial announcement, Glucophone was MIA for a year, and many believed the product to vaporware. Finally, in August 2007, HealthPia announced that they’d received FDA approval for the device .
