Diabetes is such a huge problem that we dedicate this page entirely to diabetic applications that are used in diabetes. One need not cite statistics, but let it be said that diabetes is common, and increasing, and is very costly health problem. And, nowhere in medicine is patient education so important as in the disease, which the following medical applications address, for the most part.
Blood sugar levels, of course, must be almost constantly monitored. The patient becomes acquainted with what are normal sugar levels, or normal glucose levels, and tries through exercise, diet, and medication to try to approach the normal blood glucose levels. The patient needs to adjust to a high glucose level, by maintaining a stricter diet, increase in exercise, or increase in medication.
We are patiently awaiting what we called, on another page, the “Killer App” of a non-invasive way to measure serum glucose, and with the developments in optics, and nanotechnology, it may be soon.
(From a American Diabetes Association Forum, thank you)
Diabetes is increasing in America, and worldwide. Anything that can keep patients more aware of diabetes, and the benefits of having control is a good thing.
An App may do this on a few frnts; it makes the patient more aware of what is going on, and educates the patient as to the trends that occur, especially during non-compliancy. The day of the next killer app is near; a non-invasive way of detecting serum glucose. Research is being done in Boston, Texas, and other parts of the world, and the time is near. This may help conpliancy.
