A small optometrist in the Los Angeles area says interest in Google Glass has been “huge” in the first month that it’s been selling the device with prescription lenses as part of a test pilot with Google.

The LA Times revealed the program in a weekend article, which focused on Wink Optometry, a small optometrist a bit north of the city in Calabasas, California.

Wink began offering Glass to interested customers back on April 22. They can try Glass on, and have it mounted on regular prescription frames if they like the experience.

According to Wink’s owner, his customers have taken a serious liking to Glass:

Matthew Alpert, optometrist and the owner of Wink Optometry, says interest in Glass has been “huge.”

“People are excited about it,” Alpert said. “People don’t understand it, but you just run through a demo with them and it clicks really quick.”

Another LA-area optometrist, Optometrix in Brentwood, is also taking part in the trial. (A third participating optometrist wasn’t mentioned by name in the article.)
